1930s Shirley Temple Composition Doll - 18" Original Antique
1930s Shirley Temple Composition Doll - 18" Original Antique
This is a classic 18-inch Shirley Temple style composition doll from the 1930s. While she bears no visible manufacturer markings on the neck or back, she features the iconic "lookalike" styling that was incredibly popular during the golden era of Hollywood dolls.
-
Features: Beautiful blonde mohair ringlet wig, open mouth with molded teeth, and "sleep eyes" that still function (open/close).
-
Size: 18 inches.
-
Condition: Nearly 90 years old and shows authentic character. There is visible crazing (fine surface cracks) throughout the composition and some lifting/paint loss on the legs and feet. Note: She is currently unstrung/loose, making her an ideal candidate for a restoration project or for a collector who loves the authentic antique look.
-
Origin: Manufactured in the United States. (During the 1930s, many companies like Ideal, Effanbee, and Horsman produced these dolls; "unmarked" versions were often sold through department store catalogs like Sears or Montgomery Ward).
A wonderful opportunity to restore a piece of 20th-century toy history.
